“One senior member of a leading national magazine when asked how someone could pay the bills to affording life in New York while working a full-time internship famously told us that if we couldn’t pull an unpaid internship off, then we didn’t want to succeed badly enough. When we asked how he pulled it off, he told us about how he lived in his parents’ spare apartment upstate while working his internship.” —Unpaid internships and a culture of privilege are ruining journalism

“

And then there’s Sansa. Sansa Stark who named her deadly, killer direwolf Lady. And she trained her to be gentle, and quiet, and sweet and loving. And then what happens? The Baratheons have her killed. So now Sansa is so alone, having lost her family, her home and her Lady. But she is the exact opposite of what her father said would happen to wolves who end up alone. Ned Stark said that the only way they could survive was to stick together, and that was never an option. Robb had their mother. Rickon and Bran had Winterfell and then each other. Jon is on the wall, with his brothers, and then across it with Ygritte, then back to the wall. Arya had Gendry, and is still linked to Nymeria. But Sansa has absolutely no one who is her family. So she takes the strength and poise of a lady, and turns it into something as deadly and defensive as a direwolf’s fangs and claws. She knows that she is alone, and that no one is coming for her, so she adapts. She plays the game, she keeps her mouth shut, she stays alive.

Because the best way to hide a wolf, to keep people feeling safe, is to make them think it’s just a well trained dog.

WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT BRAZIL?

icanalwaysseeyou:

legendofzelda:

This is absolutely absurd. Every news outlet is focusing on their own shit and don’t realize that the people of fucking Turkey and Brazil are going through on of the most important protests of the decade. But no one is tuning in.

Does anyone get how big this is? Hundreds of thousands of people are protesting in every capital in Brazil. They literally stormed the official buildings. And CNN is talking about weather.

I know! But the thing is a lot of people outside think it is because of the fucking 20 cents, olympics and cup. Because that is what the news is saying so a lot o people think is a rubbish reason

BUT THEY DON’T KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE

I’ve seen people saying something like ‘Idk why are you complaining at, I pay 85 per month to go to school’ like he/she thinks we pay 3.20 PER MONTH

I’m only saying that even bbc news is talking a lot about the 20 cents and the cup and forgetting the real reason

The 20 cents was only the thing brazilian people look at and said: dude we are done with this shit

Excellent point. No one understands that the government is making so much money, but the education system, the public works system, the transportation system, etc, all things everyone else takes for granted AREN’T EVEN AVAILABLE.

Like, what? If the same thing happened here at the drop of a hat, the country would be in outrage, but because it is in a different country, we don’t care????

?????

Does that make sense cause it doesn’t and if you think it does you’re wrong??
